Hagar was helplessly wandering in the wilderness of Beersheba with her child.
“….The angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, ‘What is the matter Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.’ …..Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink. God was with the boy as he grew up” (Gen 21:17-20).
Hannah was weeping, without eating, because she went childless and was provoked by her adversary.
“…..The LORD remembered her. So in the course of time Hannah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, ‘Because I asked the LORD for him’” (1 Sam 1:7, 19, 20).
The widow of Zarephath was gathering sticks to dress just the one handful of meal she had for her and her son… and then to die.
“Elijah said to her, ‘Don’t be afraid. ….For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel says’: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD sends rain on the land.’ She went away and did as Elijah had told her. …..For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah” (1 Ki 17:12; 13-16).
The widow of Nain was weeping and taking the dead body of her only son for burial.
“When the Lord saw her, His heart went out to her and He said, ‘Don’t cry.’ Then He went up and touched the bier. ….He said, ‘Young man, I say to you, get up!’ The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother” (Lk 7:12-15)
A woman was suffering with an issue of blood for twelve years, getting no better even after spending all she had on physicians.
“She came up behind Jesus and touched the edge of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. …..Then He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace’” (Lk 8:43-48).
A woman of Samaria was wasting her life in sinful pleasure but not satisfied.
“Jesus answered, ‘Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’ The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty’” (Jn 4:14, 15).
Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome were saying among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
“An angel of the Lord came down from heaven, and going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. …The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, ….Jesus has risen …. go quickly and tell ….’ He has risen from the dead’” (Mk 16:1-3; Mt 28:2-7).
“I LIFT UP MY EYES TO THE MOUNTAINS–WHERE DOES MY HELP COME FROM? MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD, THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH” (Psa 121:1, 2).
