Leela was a sweet little babe. As she grew up, her mother told her lot of stories and she developed a love for God. When she still became bigger, she started disobeying her parents and throwing temper. She always wanted to have her own way. When parents
or friends did something she didn’t like, she’d scream and shout.
Her mother was worried sick, unable to correct her. One day she sat Leela and told her the following —
“Leela, you have two doors. One door is on your right. Outside the door Jesus stands. The other door is on your left. Outside the door the devil sits like a monkey. Whenever you face a difficult situation Jesus knocks at the right door so He
can come in and help you, and the devil knocks at your left door so he can come in like a monkey and bite and destroy you. When the right door bell rings it makes a cracky noise but the left door bell has music. So you always feel like opening the left
door. But you don’t realize the danger of opening it.
“I will do one thing. Whenever you behave badly, I’ll show monkey face. Whenever you do the right thing I’ll smile like an angel. This will help you correct your behaviour.”
Leela simply listened to it and smiled. When they all sat for lunch, daddy served the food. When he kept greens on her plate she objected loudly. Her mother screwed up her face and bared her teeth like a monkey. Leela’s face became long and she fell
silent. Quietly she started eating the greens. Mummy immediately beamed like an angel. Leela burst out laughing. She felt so light and happy and could feel the presence of Jesus inside her and the exit of the devil.
The same thing repeated when she picked up a fight with her friend. Gradually Leela came to understand how good and light she felt when she was filled with the presence of God and how bad and dark and miserable she felt when she gave entrance to the
monkey. The monkey gained less and less entry as she grew up, and the presence of Jesus filled her.
Leela grew up to be a friend of God and she thanked her mother for helping her along the way.
Do not give place to the devil.
