Poet Sundaram approached our former Chief Minister, Mr. K. Kamaraj, and said, “It will be good if we shoot a film about your achievements so that people will always remember them.” Mr. Kamaraj replied: “We built roads and people walk on that. We built
schools and their children study there. What more advertisement do we need? Why waste money?”
The poet hesitatingly said. “Even three lakh rupees will be enough. We can make a documentary during election time and it will earn us votes.”
“Forget it,” Mr. Kamaraj said, “I can build ten schools in ten towns with that money.”
Don’t work for success. Work for people.
