A little boy found a mango tree and played on its branches. The lonely tree was very happy to have a friend and gave him lot of sweet mangoes.
One day the boy did not come and the tree was sad. After one year he came. The mango tree said, “Come and play with me.” But the boy said, “I am not a kid anymore to play with you. I need toys but my parents are unable to buy me. Can you help me?”
The mango tree said, “Take my mangoes, sell them and buy toys.” The boy was very happy. He took baskets of mangoes and went. He did not return for some years.
After some years he came as a young man. The tree was very happy and said, “Come and play with me.” The boy said, “No. I am married. I need a house. Can you help me?” The tree said, “Cut my branches and make a house.” The boy was very happy and cut the branches and took them.
The tree was very sad when he did not come back. After many years he came and the tree said, “I am so happy to see you. Come and play with me.” He said, “No, I am retired now and I need a boat to enjoy my life.” The tree thought for a moment and said, “OK. I have only my trunk to give you.” The man was very happy. He cut off the tree and went to make a boat.
After some years the man returned as a very old man. He said, “I need a place to rest.” The tree said, “Lay your head at my roots and rest.” And the man rested.
Our parents are like the mango tree. They give their all to us. Are we grateful to them, thank them and make them happy or do we just use them like the little boy?
