A proud elephant wandered around the forest trumpeting, “I can do anything. There is nobody like me.” A fox wanted to teach him a lesson and sought the help of an ant. They both approached the elephant. The fox pretended to cry and said, “I bought a
needle. It fell within the rocks. I am unable to retrieve it. Please help me.” The elephant tried various ways but failed. Then the ant said, “Please, let me try.” Granted permission, it slipped through the rocks and came up with the needle. The elephant was ashamed and realized that there are people to do what he could not do and he must respect them.
You may see people coming to your house to collect garbage, or those sweeping the streets and railway stations. Never despise them. Smile at them, appreciate them and say, “Thank you for cleaning. You are doing a great job.” Don’t think too high of yourself.
