A man with a bear was standing at the crossroads and shouting, “Come, rush everybody. If you tie a bear’s hair on your wrist or keep inside your ring or safe you will become a millionaire. You will inherit properties. Come running. Each hair is only Rs. 20/-.” People were stepping on each other’s toes as they tried to get closer to the man to buy a hair.
Dheenu asked his father, “Daddy, why don’t we buy one and keep inside our almirah?”
Daddy laughed and said, “My dear son, if keeping one hair will make us rich why is the man with a whole bear begging?”
Dheenu thought over it. Yes, we should not believe anything blindly. It is not a good sign if a black cat crosses our path; we should not walk under a ladder; if we trip at our doorstep we should go into the house and come out again; we should not pay our school fees or exam fees on bad days and such things that his friends say are superstitions. “I will not believe them hereafter,” decided Dheenu.
