A sailor wanted to go round the world in a boat and set up a record. Sadly, a storm lashed his boat and it broke to pieces. The sailor swam and reached a small uninhabited island. He ate wild fruits and roots and survived. He made a shelter for himself
with sticks and dry leaves. He kept on praying to God to somehow save him and take him back to his family.
One day he wanted to cook a rabbit he caught and with great difficulty generated a fire with two stones and dry leaves. But as he was cooking, sparks flew and his hut caught fire. The flames and smoke climbed up the skies.
The man was shattered. He cried, “Oh God, you are merciless. With great difficulty I built this hut. Now what will I do? Why did You allow this to happen?” He was inconsolable. When the fire died down he sat looking at the ashes and wept. Then he went to the sea to wash his face. He could not believe his eyes. He saw a ship coming close to the shore. They signalled him to swim and join the ship. He swam and reached the ship and told his story. They told the sailor how they saw smoke going up from the island and thought someone was sending SOS signal.
“Praise God,” said the man. He asked God forgiveness for foolishly charging Him of working against him.
God knows what is best for you. All things work together for good to those who love God.
