A King was suspicious that his ministers and subjects gossiped. He wanted to find out. So he called his Prime Minister secretly and whispered in his ears, “I have grown a tail, the size of my finger. Don’t tell anyone.” The minister went and told other ministers that the King had grown a tail the size of his hand and not to tell it to anyone. They went and told the people about the King’s elbow-length tail. The queen’s maidens came and asked the queen, “Amma, what is this? People say the King has grown an arm’s length tail. Is this true?” The information reached the King and he understood how people gossip.
We cannot control people’s gossip. But we can live a life that no one can gossip about.
