Women, Pray for Women!
Reading: Luke 18:1-8
“Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin;
pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord.
Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children,
who faint from hunger at every street corner” (Lam 2:19)
God told satan, “I will put enmity between you and the woman” (Gen 3:15). So we see satan attacking women in all ages and seasons. We witness so many atrocities against women everyday. Apart from that women face danger to their lives due to natural causes. They are truly the weaker sex and we need to uphold ourselves in intercession before the Throne. Here’s fodder for your prayer —
Every year millions of girl babies are aborted or killed after birth, or thrown in dustbins. Some get eaten alive by stray dogs. Those fortunate to live may be given for adoption and may be abused by adoptive parents. Others grow up in orphanages. The hopeless end up as child labourers. Many poor children do not enjoy a childhood.
Many girl children are sold out by parents and disappear into an unknown future. Their eyes may be put out or bones broken and left to beg. Others suffer rape by multiple men and a lucky few end up as servants. Many are forced into prostitution with no light or no end of the tunnel. Many suffer venereal diseases. Girl children get stolen. Nobody knows their whereabouts. Everyday their parents wait for their darlings to appear and suffer nightmares.
Pray for the safety of girl students in schools. Even in many prestigious schools there are predators who roam around in decent clothes. Even in open streets and crowds girls are molested publicly. Sexual harassment in workplace is alarmingly increasing. Pray for women to be courageous enough to complain and not put up with it or succumb to it.
Inspite of stringent laws child marriage is still a common practice. Usually it is between relatives which is yet another unhealthy practice. In some Indian States if the boy happens to die after a few years, the girl who may be five or ten is treated as a widow all her life. In one particular State such girls are kept locked up in a dark room all their life and food shoved under the door. Pray for blind beliefs and fear of gods and goddesses to be erased from our culture.
Pray for women to educate themselves and have the courage to face life.
