Who, What, Why, When, Where?

Reading: Genesis 20:14-26

“Jesus would not entrust Himself to them, for He knew all people”

(Jn 2:23,24)

Many believed on Jesus but He would not trust them! He knew what was inside people but we do not know. So we women tend to believe people and get cheated. We say it is better to get cheated than be a cheat. But we also need to be wise as the snake. If not, by getting cheated we can damage our whole life.

Girls tend to believe their friends too much, sometimes more than their parents. When boys, men or even married men shower love and care on them, girls fall flat and trust them too much to the extent of eloping with them. Married women may also unwisely let in men trusting them to be holy men of God.

Another area where a little suspicion helps is in the area of marriage. I have a friend who got married to a “Marine Engineer” and later discovered that he only joined the course and later discontinued. You must be very shrewd in the marriage market.

When a new preacher appears on the stage and preaches powerfully, prophesying and calling names, women are carried over. Beware! Check his preachings against the Word of God (1 Tim 6:4).

Usually it is the unsuspecting young wife who gets cheated by the unfaithful husband. She feels jealous when he gets close to another woman and then confesses to God for suspecting her husband. By the time she discovers the truth, his relationship with the paramour has snowballed into an unbreakable bond. She is devastated and confused.

Mothers sometimes trust their young daughters too much and get carried away for a ride. Then they discover that their daughter is pregnant or has had an abortion. A little suspicion in the beginning would have prevented a tragedy.

Suspecting too much is not a good character. But suspicion with shrewdness is wisdom. A woman must learn to walk on the razor-sharp edge between suspicion and trust. Pray for wisdom every day and the Lord will hold your hand on the tight rope walk.
