Dear Deborah!
Reading: John 4:28-42
“Preach the Word! Be ready in season and out of season” (2 Tim 4:2)
Benjamin Franklin wrote, “Serving God is doing good to man. But praying is thought an easier service and is therefore more generally chosen.” If you are one who has chosen the easier alternative, I want to put forth my argument.
I appreciate your statement that the Lord has called you for prayer ministry. But consider the fact that India is a land of 134 crores of people with a Christian population around 3%. Even if you assume that the 3% are all active soulwinners, India has a long way to go before the last person hears the Gospel.
Prayer may not need any sacrifice or challenge. But soulwinning is a challenging job demanding sacrifice. Do you want to choose the line of least resistance?
The one thing you must always have in mind is that the Lord cannot sow. He is dependent on you for the work of sowing. But you are trying to pacify the Lord saying you will pray for souls that they will turn to Him. How absurd! How can the Lord answer your prayer? If you want a fruit tree in your garden will you go on praying, “Lord, let a fruit tree spring up in my garden?” Rather you would plant a seed and pray for it to grow. That I call as ‘Faith in Action’ or ‘Living Faith.’
Many women are leading a complacent life calling themselves ‘prayer warriors.’ What will they receive on the Day of Rewards? Beloved, pray and work, work and pray. Let the two go hand in hand. Take up the challenge. Take up the difficult job of soulwinning which the lazy bones have neglected for want of zeal.
When her people were doomed, if Esther had gathered her maidens and fasted and prayed and interceded, doing nothing about it, do you think the Lord would have answered their prayers?
Unless every born-again woman throws herself in the task of evangelism, Indian women can never be brought to the light of the Gospel.
Don’t let the devil tell you that you cannot win souls. Start sowing without worrying about reaping. Start sharing the Good News to anyone you can. God will honour your work.
