“I have come to do Your will, My God” (Heb 10:7)
Every day we pray, “Thy will be done.” Have we ever taken the time to meditate on what God’s will for us is? If God has created me to be a woman, I know for sure that it is God’s will for me to function as a woman from birth to death. One day when I face my Lord, He should not say, “I never knew you” (Mt 7:21). So I will not try to do great things. Doing the will of God is great. What does God expect from me as a woman?
If God wants me to be a woman, I should not violate it in my dress, behaviour or duties. I will look womanly in my attire and hairstyle. I will not behave authoritatively to my parents or husband. In general I will exhibit a submissive attitude. God created me as a helper to my husband (Gen 2:18). I will work on myself to suit him in every way. God said I will bear children, desire my husband and be under his rule. So I will not think mean of pregnancy, childbirth or feeding babies. I will consider these as the will of God for my life (1 Tim 2:15). I will love my husband let come what may.
I will keep myself under my parents’/husband’s authority. I will not shout at him, abuse him or disobey him (unless his demand is sinful). I will exhibit a gentle and quiet spirit. I will remind myself that I am Sarah’s daughter and need to follow her example (1 Pet 3:1-6). I will run my home efficiently. Children and home-making will be my priority. I will not consider them a burden. I will enjoy my children and grandchildren and do my best for them. These will be the general will of God for my life.
As for God’s specific will for me as an individual, I will pray and lean on the help of the Holy Spirit for discernment. Should I do post graduation? Should I take up a job? Whom should I marry? What ministry can I do for God? I will use my commonsense and God’s help to find the answer to such questions in my life. I will not allow moneymindedness to guide me in these matters but be totally committed to do the will of God.
I am proud to be a woman because I can do many things a man cannot do.
