Why feel sorry?
Reading: 2 Chronicles 25:6-10
“Do not consider it a hardship to set your servant free,
because his service to you these years
has been worth you twice as much as that of a hired hand.
And the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do” (Dt 15:18)
In other words God is telling us not to feel bad about some losses because He will compensate for it manifold. When I read the above text I thought of the things that make me feel bad. Now I am learning to say, “It’s ok. God has blessed me, and will bless me.”
You buy some vegetables from the vendor only to find that the next one offers to you the same at a cheaper rate. Don’t feel bad about it . You are much better off than the poor vendor. When guests bring you too much fruits, don’t worry that they will go rotten. Share it with whoever you can. Let the hearts of the poor rejoice. You order food from the hotel for a party but fortunately or unfortunately there’s a lot of left over. Don’t worry that you have wasted your money. Don’t try to overload your fridge and make everybody at home eat it again. Have a joy ride in your car and go to places were there are hungry stomachs and bless them with your feast food. Be happy your money has turned to gold.
Your widowed mother has been sent to you by your brother to be taken care of for some months. You are angry, frustrated and helpless. This means additional load for you. But do you know God is going to bless you for giving your old mother shelter? (Prov 23:22).
I learnt this lesson when I bought a pair of lovely sandals and came home to find that it gave me backache. I worried over the money spent. God reminded me of Deuteronomy 15:18. Today it is adorning a poor girl’s feet and I feel so blessed.
Amaziah, king of Judah, had hired men of valour from Israel to go to war. But a man of God asked him to send away the troops of Israel because God was not with Israel. “But what about the hundred talents I paid for these Israelite troops?” asked Amaziah. The man of God replied, “The Lord is able to give you much more than this” (2 Chr 25:9).
Lovely ladies, God has blessed us so much. We should never feel sorry for such trivial losses if they can be turned into profit for someone else. God keeps on blessing us; so keep on giving. If some unexpected blessing comes in, let something else go out, so that our house will not be cluttered. Blessings come; let blessings go!
