Who am I?
Reading: Acts 8:26-39
“Let no eunuch say, ‘I am a dry tree...’ for this is what the Lord says: ‘To the eunuch ... who chooses what pleases Me and hold fast to My covenant to them I will give within My temple and its walls
a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters;
I will give them an everlasting name that will endure forever’ ”
(Isa 56:3,4)
There are eunuchs born that way and some have been made that way (Mt 19:11,12). Some go in for sex-change surgeries. Others are transgenders, bisexual or queer. To whichever category you may belong to, take comfort in the thought that God loves you. Jesus said, “Whoever comes to Me I will never drive away” (Jn 6:37).
If you are born differently, be assured that God created you that way and He will lead you in this life, whatever you may have in face. People may hate you or treat you unlovingly. But God loves you. Seek the help of a counsellor to sort out your feelings. Do not get discouraged or contemplate suicide. Channelise your thoughts towards how to go forward and came up in life. One day you will be proud of yourself.
The Government has now recognized a third gender. So do not be ashamed of yourself. Enroll yourself in a school or college and start studying. Go for postgraduation. Find a job. Your whole aim must be to come up in life. Then the world will salute you.
It is possible for you to lead a decent life. Do not join a group that robs people. Keep yourself away from bawdy festivals where lewd practices prevail. If possible be with your parents; if not be in a hostel or be independent.
In Isaiah 59:3,4 we read that you must choose what pleases God. When questions arise in your mind, when you are confused, turn to God and His Word. Buy a New Testament and start reading it. Do what pleases God. He has reserved a place for you in heaven. This world will pass away. This life of suffering will be over soon. Then we will enjoy everlasting life forever and ever. Jesus endured sufferings for the joy that was before Him (Heb 12:1). So pull on with your eyes on the prize.
