The New Testament never becomes old. The new year too need not become an old year. It can remain new to the end if talking to the Most High and hearing from Him should mark the dawn of a day.
A happy day is one run according to God’s will. To know God’s will we must wait on Him. It is actively exercising our minds to understand the will of God for the day, for the year, for our life. If we talk about the details of the day to the Lord and commit the day into His hands, He is mindful of it to run it smoothly.
Take time to worship the Lord like Miriam (Ex 15:21). Open the first page of the Bible and worship Him as the Creator. The next day, turn to the next page. That way every day you will not lack substance to worship the Lord in a new way. Spend some time praying in the Spirit and speaking in tongues like Mary (Acts 2:4). The Spirit helps in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for but the Spirit intercedes for us and others in accordance with the will of God (Rom 8:26,27). Thank God for all His blessings like the sinner woman (Lk 7:37-50). It is the best way to forget our sorrows and overcome a grumbling spirit. Every day do not forget to examine yourself like Rebekah (Gen 25:22). Ask the Lord to bring to light what you do not know about yourself. You will be surprised the way the Lord pinpoints your dark areas when you honestly seek to grow spiritually. Finally bring to the Lord’s feet your points for intercession like the persistent widow (Lk 18:3). Keep a prayer diary to note down prayer points. Open the newspaper and pray for all the happenings in the world. God works in the world through our prayers.
Learn to keenly listen to the voice of God. Do not be satisfied with just reading a few chapters from the Bible every day. Ask Him to reveal to you the secrets of His Word. Choose an unhurried hour when you can calmly meditate the Scriptures. Seek the Lord’s help to guide your thoughts. As He reveals, note them down. You will learn to hear the voice of God. You will understand the imprints God makes in your heart. If you start meditating word by word you’ll never exhaust the Bible in your lifetime.
Let not the devil defeat you first thing in the morning. Speak to God and listen to Him. Then be confident that nothing will happen that day that you and He cannot handle together.
