Poor Zillah. She fell for the flirtatious looks of a married man. She felt hilarious to do something which no other woman in history had done. Little did she know that she was marrying a man who could fly off the handle anytime, even to the extent of murdering and flaunt it too. At the slightest provocation his anger would flare up. Now that she was married, she had no way of escape. She had to live with the guilt of breaking a woman’s heart and marriage (Gen 4:19-24).
She was one of the degener a terace of Cain who first transgressed that original law of marriage that two only should be one flesh. So far only one woman was married to one man. But Zilla was bold to break the law by marrying a married man. After marriage she realized that what she chased after was not what she wanted. The man she married was a haughty man with no fear of God. He could kill anyone who injured him and flaunt about it.
Young girls marrying married men, or married women leaving their husbands for other men, is not a strange thing today. I want to warn women. Such exciting experiences are just bubbles. They burst within days. You have hurt your parents, husband, and a wife and betrayed those who had placed high hopes on you. More than all that, you have violated the law of God and spoilt your testimony. Sooner or later you will find yourself trapped in an unhappy marriage.
Don’t go by your emotions. Emotions are kindled by hormones. They need to be channelled towards the right way. Satan will try to lead you in the wrong path. It is very difficult to control your sexual urge, but not impossible. Don’t even be emotionally involved with a married man. Keep yourself at a respectable distance. Many factors shape a person’s life, the choice of a mate being the most persuasive.
You must not marry the man of your liking. You must marry the man of God’s choice. Pray. Listen to your parents and spiritual leaders. Use your common sense and obey the laws of God. Then you will be blessed with a happy marriage.
