Young girls should reflect on this passage deeply before they enter into a nuptial relationship. See the importance of God in the whole affair. It is God who feels it is not good for Tom, Dick or Harry to be alone. It is He who wants to make a helper fit for him. The whole idea of marriage is God’s and His ideas are never bad. So, when it comes to the question of marriage, young girls should allow God to rule supreme. Let Him decide who you should marry. Never choose a mate whom God has not chosen for you. “He (God) brought her to him (Adam)” (Gen 2:22).
God said, “I will make a helper suitable for him.” Now God is moulding you to suit your life partner. Be pliable in His hand. Physically, mentally and spiritually a woman is very different from man, so they can complement each other. When God brings two individuals together, He has to mould them both so that they would have a smooth working relationship. The bolt and nut are very different but they snugly fit together.
The moulding process is very, I say, very, painful. The clay under the potter’s feet is trampled upon till he picks out and throws away every small irritating stone. The clay weeps. Then he puts the clay to the wheel till its head spins and it cries, “Let me go, let me go.” That’s not all. He has to put the raw pot in the furnace. The pot screams and begs the potter. But the potter knows that unless the pot goes through the furnace experience, it will not suit his purposes. Now, out comes the pot — fit for the potter’s use.
Life will not be a bed of roses. There will be lot of roses and lot of thorns too. Never despair of life. People see the roses but you see the thorns. Try to see the roses too. Put forth all your energy in making your marriage work.
Start praying and preparing yourself for this beautiful fiery experience. Every day you will adapt yourself more and more to your husband. Your silver jubilee will be good, your golden jubilee will be better, and your diamond jubilee will be the best!
