“By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive ... THEREFORE ...” (Heb 11:11,12)
Sarah started her faith journey after a blunder. May be she thought the promise of a child was for her husband and not for her. “The Lord has kept me from having children,” she said and gave her slave to Abraham. Her lack of faith caused a disaster — in her family life — in the history of Israel — in the world!
When the heavenly visitor said that Sarah would have a son, she laughed to herself. That was the laughter of faithlessness. Sarah was old. THEREFORE she laughed. When the Lord said, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” her faith started building up (Gen 18:11-14). When Isaac was born, she said, “God has made me laugh” (Gen 21:6). That was the laughter of faith.

It was by faith that Sarah received strength to conceive and THEREFORE through Abraham children were born like stars and sand. If she had not believed ...? She considered Him faithful who had made the promise (Heb 11:11,12). Mary believed that she would conceive, even though she was a virgin (Lk 1:45). Faith saves (Lk 7:50), faith heals (Lk 8:48).
In life’s journey we must hold on to God’s promises and move from faithlessness to faith. When you fail in your examination or affair, you may be tempted to commit suicide. The Bible says that the just shall live by faith (Hab 2:4; Rom 1:17; Gal 3:11; Heb 10:38). Hold on to your faith though all may go awry. Your faith will be sorely tested (Lk 23:31). Why? God wants to strengthen you first so that you can strengthen your sisters (Lk 22:31).
The devil is all out to destroy our faith because it is by faith we live. Once our faith is gone we cannot live, meaning we lose our eternal life. So never let your faith be shaken. Every trial must make you stronger. Trials and temptations are Christian exercises designed to build up our faith. Unless you become strong, you cannot serve others. Be patient in your trials and let God build up your character. The lessons you learn in the process are valuable. That will be the syllabus for your own disciples.
Faith mighty faith the promise sees and looks to God alone; Laughs at impossibilities and cries, It shall be done!
