Reading: Luke 15:11-24
“For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back. In a surge of anger I hid My face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you” (Isa 54:7,8)
Fear, shock, confusion, guilt and shame rock you when you discover that you are pregnant out of wedlock. Will the boy take responsibility and stand with you in this? How to broach the subject with parents? All the stars in your sky have fallen and darkness engulfs you.
Now is the time to think clearly and look for light. Weigh the options —
If you are above eighteen and the boy is of marriageable age, and willing, inform your parents and arrange for a quick marriage.
If the boy refuses to take responsibility, inform your parents and arrange for a safe delivery in some charitable institution or elsewhere and give away the baby for adoption.
Have the delivery in your place and face the public boldly. Be prepared to carry the stamp of an unwed mother all your life.
It is a traumatic experience for you and the family. Many girls opt for an abortion without the knowledge of their parents. Sometimes parents themselves take the girl for abortion. Abortion is not an option since it is murder. Two wrongs do not make a right. The foetes or embryo is not just flesh, it is a viable baby. Hence do not go for an abortion. It carries with it the risk of infection, sterility and even death of the mother even if it is done by experts. Never go to quacks to clean your uterus.
Whatever has happened has happened. Now you cannot go back. So look forward. Come to God and seek His forgiveness and help. There is no sin that God cannot forgive. There is nothing beyond Him. So throw yourself in His arms and choose a God-pleasing option. He will stand by you. Commit your future and the future of your child in His hands. He will show you the way step by step and lead you out of darkness to light. You may even find a life partner who will accept you and your child. Life is precious. Do not kill yourself or your child.
