Sunny Woman
Reading: Isaiah 45:1-6
“From the rising of the sun to the place of its setting
people may know there is none besides Me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other” (Isa 45:6; 59:19)
If a woman is like the sun, she has unlimited potential. The above text may be interpreted in two ways in our context. One is that women should be witnesses wherever they go — in the bus or bus stop, train or railway station, plane or airport, even other countries — from one end of the earth to the other. The other interpretation is that from the day of her salvation to the end of her life she should keep proclaiming the Good News. She will be like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day (Prov 4:18). Gradually she will gain strength and courage.
The Lord says, “My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place incense and pure offerings will be brought to Me, because My name will be great among the nations” (Mal 1:11). This passage clearly speaks about worship groups. Wherever we go our presence must be felt by the springing up of churches. We can also support church building projects.
God pitched a tent for the sun;but it doesn’t stay there. Like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course, it rises at one end of the heaven and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth (Psa 19:4-6). Yes, God gives us a home but not to be wedded to it. We must get out. The bride is supposed to be in the closet (Joel 2:16). But now is the time to shirk off your shyness and come out like a bridegroom. She should be like a champion, shedding off her reservedness and come out bold and beaming. The sun is never idle. Keep going, witnessing, your handbag equipped with some Gospel tracts and New Testaments.
This is the day of the Lord and you must shine to your full capacity, seven times brighter (Isa 30:26). Go to dark places. What use is a light in a well-lit place? Put away fear. Darkness will not overcome you (Jn 1:5). Shine like Priscilla wherever you go (Acts 18). He “appoints the sun to shine by day” (Jer 31:35). Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work” (Jn 9:4). It is already dusk. Let’s hurry up, little suns! “Arise, shine, for your light has come! (Isa 60:1). More tomorrow!
